Key Insights From This Episode

Connectivity now outranks old advantages.

The panel argues that modern financial centers win by being connected, trusted, and adaptable, not merely by offering a geographic or tax edge. Ecosystem depth and the ability to serve global firms throughout the day are now core differentiators.

Regulation should enable, not just police.

Christian Cameron emphasizes that the best regulators listen, adapt, and map to international standards while still moving fast. That balance helps attract firms without compromising stability or oversight.

Family offices are becoming institutional.

Jonathan Beard explains that family capital is growing more sophisticated, more global, and more selective about where it allocates. The priorities are shifting toward access, privacy, expertise, succession planning, and the ability to meet managers face to face.

AI is becoming operational, not experimental.

The discussion highlights that AI is moving into real workflows in financial services, including compliance, financial crime detection, and risk review. The opportunity is real, but concentration risk, black-box behavior, and governance gaps remain serious concerns.

Speed matters, but only with structure.

A fast setup is attractive only if the legal framework, onboarding process, and operating model are credible. The panel stresses that rushing into a market without a long-term plan is one of the biggest mistakes firms make.

The future belongs to adaptable hubs.

The strongest centers will be those that embrace innovation early, support new products like tokenization and digital assets, and keep evolving as investor demand changes. The winners will pair flexibility with trust and a clear long-term vision.
